Judaic Studies Department
Marisa Butensky
My Judaic Studies major is helping me to plan my future because I am learning the background knowledge of Judaism which includes the history, culture, beliefs, and values of an amazing religion. It has also opened many doors for me. I currently work at two Hebrew schools in the Capital District: Congregation Agudat Achim in Schenectady and Congregation Berith Shalom in Troy. I am also the Hillel Grinspoon Intern for the University at Albany campus and the President of the student group Young Judea Impact (formally known as Hamagshimim). I am so blessed to have taken classes with some of the Department’s great professors such as Rachel Harris, Barry Trachtenberg, Arthur Brenner, Stanley Isser, and Joel Berkowitz. The Judaic Studies Department has not only given me a great education but a place I can call home.
