The next group of photos offers views of underground mining in the last years of operation of the Lehigh Coal & Navigation Company, the coal mining and transportation giant that dominated the economic life of the Panther Valley. The first photos were all commissioned by the company and appeared in annual reports; later photos show how George Harvan approached his subjects when less constrained by the firm's needs.
