Resetting your computer to its Native IP Address


If you have a machine that you will be using in more than one Building (Subnet) on campus, you may need to change your computer's settings as you go move between locations. Use these directions to change your computer from Dynamic to Static IP addressing.

Note: Refer to this section when you are asked for your IP Address, DNS and WINS Servers

TCP/IP
IP Address:169.226.a.b *
Subnet Mask:255.255.255.0
Gateway:169.226.a.001 *
 *a= Subnet (This number is building specific)
 *b= IP Address (This number is user specific)
Please refer to your registration form to obtain your native IP address
DNS Server:1) 169.226.1.100
 2) 169.226.1.103
WINS Server:1) 169.226.063.023
 2) 169.226.046.083


To configure TCP/IP settings for your Operating System:

Windows XP Professional

  1. Open Network Connections by open Network Connections, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.
  2. Click the connection you want to configure, and then, under Network Tasks, click Change settings of this connection.
  3. Click Use the following IP address, and in IP address.
  4. Enter the IP Address,Subnet mask and Default gateway, that you recorded on your DHCP Getting Started form.
  5. Click Ok twice.
  6. close the Local area connection window.

Windows 2000 Professional

  1. Right-click My Network Places, and then click Properties.
  2. Right-click the network connection for your network adapter, and then click Properties.
  3. On the General tab, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
  4. Click Use the following IP address,
  5. Enter the IP Address,Subnet mask and default that you recorded on your DHCP Getting Started form.
  6. Click Ok twice.
  7. close the Local area connection window.

Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 95

  1. Right-click Network Neighborhood, and then click Properties.
  2. On the Configuration tab, click the TCP/IP entry for your network adapter, and then click Properties.
  3. On the IP Address tab, click Specify an IP address.
  4. Type the IP address and Subnet mask that you recorded on your DHCP Getting Started form.
  5. Click OK twice.
  6. Click Yes when asked "Do you want to restart your commputer now?"

Windows NT 4.0 Workstation

  1. Right-click Network Neighborhood, and then click Properties.
  2. On the Protocols tab, click TCP/IP Protocol, and then click Properties.
  3. On the IP Address tab, click Specify an IP address, type the IP address and Subnet mask that you recorded on your DHCP Getting Started form.
  4. Click Add, and then click OK.
