Obtaining your Native Network Settings (IP address)

First, determine your Operating System.

Windows XP Professional

  1. Open Network Connections by open Network Connections, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.
  2. Click the connection you want to configure, and then, under Network Tasks, click Change settings of this connection.
  3. Do one of the following:
  4. If the connection is a local area connection, on the General tab, under This connection uses the following items, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.
  5. Record the IP address and Subnet mask as it appears on this page.
  6. Enter the information in the fields provided on the DHCP Getting Started form.
  7. Click Cancel to close all windows that opened with this procedure.

Windows 2000 Professional

  1. Right-click My Network Places, and then click Properties.
  2. Right-click the network connection for your network adapter, and then click Properties.
  3. On the General tab, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.
  4. Record the IP address and Subnet mask as it appears on this page.
  5. Enter the information in the fields provided on the DHCP Getting Started form.
  6. Click Cancel to close all windows that opened with this procedure.

Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 95

  1. Right-click Network Neighborhood, and then click Properties.
  2. On the Configuration tab, click the TCP/IP entry for your network adapter, and then click Properties.
  3. Click on the IP Address tab.
  4. Record the IP address and Subnet mask as it appears on this page.
  5. Enter the information in the fields provided on the DHCP Getting Started form. Click Cancel to close all windows that opened with this procedure.

Windows NT 4.0 Workstation

  1. Right-click Network Neighborhood, and then click Properties.
  2. On the Protocols tab, click TCP/IP Protocol, and then click Properties.
  3. On the IP Address tab.
  4. Record the IP address and Subnet mask as it appears on this page.
  5. Enter the information in the fields provided on the DHCP Getting Started form. Click Cancel to close all windows that opened with this procedure.
