Test Scoring, Students [SMO Details]

What You Need

If your instructor is giving an exam that will be scanned for grading, the instructor will distribute the answer sheet.  Fill in your name on the back, Last name first.

You will need #2 pencils and a good eraser, black or blue ink may also be used.

You will need to know your AlbanyID, all nine digits must be filled in on the back.

You will need an answer sheet. This will be provided by the instructor.  If you make mistakes that you cannot adequately correct, ask for a new answer sheet.

What You Get

The results of your exam will be provided to you by your instructor.

What Happens Next   Exams are electronically scored in the Computing Center.  The machine is sensitive to marks on the paper, so it is important to erase any stray marks and unintended answers. Also marks that are too light or incomplete may not be read at all, thus potentially lowering your score.

How it Works

The testscoring machine will score exams recorded using a #2 pencil, blue or black ink.

Every sheet must have your nine-digit AlbanyID and Name. If any are missing, your exam cannot be graded.

Staples, paper clips, folds or tears in the forms increase the likelihood that the optical scanning equipment will have trouble properly scoring your exam

Do not to write in the margins of the forms or leave erasure smudges. The optical scanning equipment picks up extraneous marks and interprets them as data. This could also cause a problem grading the sheets.
