Data Center Production Services Restored after 6/27/07 Flooding

The Wednesday evening storm caused flooding in the data center.  For the protection of all staff and equipment, the Albany Fire Department recommended the shutdown of all servers located in the data center.  The University network and phone service were not affected by the flood.

At 8:00 A.M. Thursday morning, after an assessment of the conditions in the data center, ITS personnel began the process of bringing services back on line.  At this point (10:15 A.M.) all production services (Exchange Mail and Calendaring, Webmail, Peoplesoft, WebCT, Blackboard, etc.) have been restored.

Thank you for your patience during this outage.  And a special thank you to the many offices who came forward to offer help.  We especially appreciated the heroic clean up efforts of the Facilities Custodial Services staff.

Please contact the ITS HelpDesk at 442-3700, if you need more information or wish to report problems regarding ITS services.
