What You Need

A reserved videoconference room. (Reserve room HU-290 in the Humanities building by calling 442-5761.)

After the room is reserved, make a request to schedule the video conference through ITS. Use this Video Conference Request Form or call ITS Client Services at 442-3647 or email smartclass@albany.edu

Fees:

ITS does not charge for Video Conferences related to University scheduled classes

Conference setup and support fee of $50. billable to a UAlbany account number or other billing address

Optional equipment operator fee of $25 per hour for an ITS representative to remain in the room during your conference to operate equipment (i.e. cameras, VCRs, etc.)

Variable connection charges,

What You Get A connection to a remote location and the ability to conduct an interactive, face-to-face meetings. The room comfortably seats fifteen to twenty people around a conference table, with seating available for additional participants on and/or off camera.
Services include point-to-point video conference testing and setup and technician assistance. We can also provide training for meeting participants

What Happens Next
An ITS representative will set up the videoconference, including interacting with technical staff at the other site to schedule and test for the actual conference including training meeting participants in use of the equipment.

How it Works The conference room is equipped with a Tandberg 6000 MXP Video Conferencing Unit (384KB) and two cameras. It has two 65-inch flat panel monitors that allow participants at both sites to view each other and desktop pad microphones for two-way audio. Additionally, there is a connection for a personal computer that will allow you to share files with the other site and a VCR to show video tapes.

This self contained video conferencing unit can be brought to any office, classroom, or conference room where an internet connection is available.
