WiUAlbany Access Expanded!

Information Technology Service's wireless access, , has been further expanded for the Fall, 2006 semester.  Last semester, the Library Buildings, the outdoor sections of the podium, the dining areas of the Campus Center, and the area between the Science Library and the Campus Center had wireless coverage.  Fall 2006 brings the following enhancements:

  • Uptown Campus
    - Campus Center-More wireless has been added to increase coverage to the entire building.
    - Exterior areas covering the main bus stop and Collins Circle
    - Areas within the Recreation and Convocation Center
    - Areas within the Physical Education Building

  • Downtown Campus-The entire campus including the exterior areas on the Western Avenue side of campus.

  •  East Campus-Entryway and student areas of the George Education Building

Many departments have also elected to embrace  for their internal use.  Please contact your technical coordinator to find out if your department offers this service. 

See for yourself! Take your 802.11b/g capable wireless computer to any of the above areas*, turn it on, click on your Internet browser, and you will automatically be taken to the "Welcome to Wireless Internet Access at the University at Albany" page.  Follow the instructions to download the software you need, login, and you're connected to the Internet.
