The University at Albany is pleased to announce a partnership with Apogee, Inc. (www.apogeenet.net) that will provide new services and improvements to the residential network (ResNet) beginning in the Fall 2007 semester.
The new ResNet service includes:
- Internet access
- Authenticated wired network
- Authenticated wireless access in all residence halls and outdoor areas within 50 feet of all quad buildings
- Gaming support with dedicated bandwidth
- 24/7/365 live customer support
- 24/7/365 network coverage with redundant connections to the Internet
- On-site technician for hardware support
- Upgraded technology in all residence halls
- A robust infrastructure less susceptible to outages
This partnership will result in significant improvements to ResNet services; all residential students will have an account and guaranteed network access at no additional charge, with the option to purchase enhanced services such as increased bandwidth and Internet telephone service.
Beginning May 2007, residential students will be sent information about how to activate their new ResNet account in preparation for the Fall 2007 semester.
