The accounts most often used by students are MyUAlbany and UNIX. Accounts used most often by employees are MyUAlbany, UNIX, and Windows Network Access. Each system is independent of the others. You can, however, set your account on each system to have the same password. Students and employees are automatically provided a MyUAlbany and UNIX account. The Windows Network Access is available to employees by request.
MyUAlbany: A self-service website for students, faculty, and employees. Faculty can view and print their course schedules, view room locations, view up-to-the-minute class rosters, as well as submit grades. Employees find access to HR information and services. Students can obtain important University information, view academic records, check financial aid and billing information, update personal information, and register for courses.
UNIX: The UNIX account is used for a variety of purposes on campus. It provides mail server access, acts as a file server for users, and hosts University web pages. This account also provides authentication to many systems on campus (i.e. Blackboard Learning System, Library resources, WebMail, computers located in ITS user rooms and Information Commons).
Windows Network Access (employees only): The Windows network provides a central location for users to share information with one another. It provides a user with access to file servers, network printers, and Exchange email. Employees use this account to log onto their office computer.
Please Note: If an employee obtains a network account after setting a password for their MyUAlbany and UNIX accounts, the employee can complete the Password Set/Reset process again to set the same or a different password for their Windows Network account.
