UAlbany SUNY Learning Network Migration to Blackboard Learning System CE 6
In the summer of 2007, the University at Albany will begin transitioning its fully online courses and degree programs currently being offered on the SUNY Learning Network (SLN) to the University's enterprise course management system Blackboard Learning System CE 6. The migration will take place between the Summer 2007 and Fall 2008 semesters.
The Blackboard system provides much of the same functionality as SLN and offers more features and functionalities. Instructors can use the internal mail feature to communicate with their students, the calendaring tool which allows you to input deadlines for assignments and assessments into a universal course calendar and a grade book to keep track of students progress.
During the transition, ITS will be offering a full schedule of training workshops for instructors who will be migrating to Blackboard. The Converting Your SLN Course to BLS: The Basics workshop builds upon the instructor's knowledge and expertise from working with the SUNY Learning Network and will equip instructors with the tools to successfully transition their courses to CE 6. Open workshops will be held for instructors to receive additional hands on assistance, as needed, as they work on their spring and summer 2008 courses. Session will be available a full semester before the course and instructor will be migrated.
