BLS at UAlbany

What is BLS?

Blackboard Learning System CE (BLS) is an online course management system software package that allows UAlbany faculty to augment face to face & hybrid courses with online content, or to facilitate entirely online courses.

Some of BLS' features include individual authentication,  grade posting, discussion boards, course e-mail, online assessment,  assignment upload for students, interactive chat, course content modules for lecture notes and slides, plus much more. BLS requires minimal technical expertise on the part of the course developer, and on the part of the student.

What happened to WebCT?

The University's course management system, WebCT, will be retired at the end of the Fall 2007 semester.  All spring courses will be hosted on Blackboard Learning System CE (BLS).  We recommend that all instructors request their Spring '08 BLS course site early.

Training on the new platform will be provided to all faculty members and TAs that will be designing and instructing on BLS.

Please note that users will be able to access their Fall 2007 WebCT courses through the first week in February.
