Mail Server/File Server Outage 5/19/2005

On Thursday, May 19, 2005, the UNIX mail server Mail1 and the UNIX cluster file server Leah will be down from 6am until 8am in order to upgrade electrical lines powering these systems.

During this outage, UNIX mail users will be unable to send/receive/read mail. All incoming mail addressed to user@albany.edu or user@uamail.albany.edu will be refused until the machine is back up. However, mail should queue at the sending site and re-send based on the sending site defined parameters. Mail sent within the University's Exchange system will be unaffected.

Additionally, no UNIX home directories will be available during this outage and therefore no web pages housed in unix home directories will be available. Unix software served from Leah will also be unavailable (e.g. freeware, SPSS, SAS, etc.)
