Summary: On August 17, Microsoft updated its Malicious Software Removal Tool to address 7 variants of the Zotob worm and 3 (Zotob.A - Zotob.E) and 3 variants of the Rbot bot (Rbot.MA - Rbot.Mc). This update is out of sequence with the vendor's usual practice of updating its' malware removal tool in parallel with its monthly security updates.Recommended Actions: Windows system managers and support personnel who use this removal tool are strongly encouraged to obtain the updated copy (see link below) and also frequently check for new additions to the list of malware families that are 'cleaned' by this tool (see link below), as it is likely that more variants of both Zotob and Rbot will be created in the near future.
