Summary:  On April 12, Microsoft sent notice of an update to its Security Bulletin for April. Included in this round of changes are eight security-related bulletins (MS05-016 through -023, 5 of which have been deemed "critical" by the vendor). These updates address vulnerabilities in multiple versions of the Windows operating system, Operating system components such as Internet Explorer, and also popular software aplications such as Word and MSN Messenger.

Recommended Actions:  Windows system managers and support personnel are encouraged to read bulletins MS05-16 through MS05-23 (including all potential caveats) and (if appropriate) apply the patches immediately as per the instructions detailed in the bulletins.

ITS Actions:  ITS Systems Management and Operations Staff will apply the patches to the appropriate ITS severs as soon as patch testing is complete.
