Tools for Advanced Users:

TCP View Utility

  Experience Level II

 Malware Detection Utility

Free for Personal and Institutional Use.

Description of TCP View:
Similar to FPort, this program shows all programs engaged in network activity. A good tool to learn on as it poses little risk if you make mistakes.

Basic Instructions for use:
After installation, run the program to see current network connections and their associated ports. Many of the connections you see may be legitimate, but if there is a connection to a server you do not recognize, it may be malware phoning home. You should try to verify its legitimacy before taking any corrective action. Often there are unfamiliar programs running legitimately in the background as parts of other programs you are using.
