ITS UNIX Cluster Mail Server Information

The following table contains the basic information necessary to configure any local mail program (e.g., Netscape Messenger, Microsoft Outlook) to download mail from an Academic Computing e-mail account via the IMAP or POP protocols.

Incoming Mail Server (IMAP & POP)	imap.albany.edu
Outgoing (SMTP) Server, on-campus users only	smtp.albany.edu *
Return E-mail Address	userid@albany.edu
Check/download mail once every...	30 minutes or less

* Off-campus users must set their outgoing SMTP server to that given by their Internet Service Provider (ISP). Contact your ISP for the information.

Note: AOL does not provide a separate outgoing SMTP server. AOL users must use the AOL service (and not external software like Netscape or Outlook) to send mail.
