Faculty / Staff — Your Email Address

Faculty and staff can have email access through the UNIX cluster if desired. The default email address for unix mail is netid@albany.edu. However, faculty and staff can set an alias by selecting the Create Alias option in the web process for requesting a mailbox. People usually prefer to have an email alias is set up because it personalizes the email address.
Exchange
Faculty and staff can also have email services through the Exchange/Outlook server. The mail address for exchange is exchange-alias@uamail.albany.edu. With an exchange account you will have the ability to use the exchange calendar and contacts. You will also have an entry in the global address book that is associated with Exchange services. All people requesting an Exchange account must first:
Aliases
The format of aliases for both UNIX and Exchange are: your first initial followed by your last name. (If the alias is already in use, you will be assigned an alias which will be a combination of first initial and last name.) Some faculty may have mail services supplied by a local/departmental server; check with your department for details.
