ESRI Software Program Summary
ESRI specializes in geographic information system (GIS) and mapping software products which are presently in use at several SUNY campuses.

ESRI Software License Restrictions
For Faculty and Staff:
ESRI is available for use by University departments, for installation on University owned machines ONLY.
ESRI is doing NO development on the Macintosh platform. It is Windows based.
*Mac users have a couple of options. There are 2 ways you can get ESRI software to run on a Mac. The first is to use ArcView GIS for Mac versions of the software. The second is to run Virtual PC on a Mac. On a Mac G3, Virtual PC would allow about 128 mb of RAM to be available for running windows-based software. For Students:
Students may access ESRI licenses in 2 ways:
1) via faculty at http://gis2.esri.com/industries/education/promo/index.cfm or
2) Student purchase directly from ESRI = 1-800-GIS-9778 = speak to fast track = dial 2 of voice prompt

Requesting ESRI GIS Software with Dongle
- Submit the 'Software License Request' form to the Information Technology Services Helpdesk . You must include the following information in your request:
- the product you are requesting and the exact version you need
- your name, phone number, and email address (or that of the designated contact person in the department)
- You will also be promptedto enter the ollowing information:
- Operating system that the software will run on
- Computer Name
- Hardware Type
- Dongles
- The request will be sent to ITEC (Information Technology Exchange Center). ITEC will generate the appropriate keycodes for dongle required to install and run the software.
- You will pick up the software with dongles at the Information Technology Services Helpdesk in LC27.
ESRI training:
Through the SUNY-Wide ESRI license, SUNY campuses have access to the ESRI Virtual Campus Training program. This program provides faculty, staff and students with free, unlimited access to online courses at ESRI Virtual Campus.
