As the University's website grows in size and importance, so does the challenge of managing it to best support UAlbany mission and goals. The RedDot Content Management System (CMS) installed last year in production offers tools and resources aimed at improving the organization, presentation, and maintenance of content on websites. Currently used by a couple dozen University at Albany sites including Campus News, the Undergraduate Bulletin, the University Senate, the Registrar's Ofice, EOP, and ITS, it is important to keep current with developments in the software.
To that end, ITS will be doing the upgrade to the latest release of RedDot CMS on Monday and Tuesday, July 9th and 10th, 2007. The RedDot server will be unavailable those two days as we upgrade the operating system, the database software and RedDot CMS. In addition, we will be performing disaster recovery testing on the server to assure ourselves that in the event of a disaster, we would be able to quickly restore services.
Note that the RedDot server which manages web content is a staging server. RedDot editors will be unable to make changes to their sites while the service is being upgraded. The web sites themselves will be unaffected during the upgrade.
