As part of IROW's commitment to extending contacts with African scholars, the Institute and the Women's Studies Department are hosting a Tanzanian visitor, Magdalena Ngaiza, during the third week of November. A librarian at the University of Dar es Salaam, Ms. Ngaiza is a member of the National Advisory Committee on Women's Affairs and has published widely on various aspects of women and development in Tanzania. Among her recent research interests is the issue of policy options towards survivors of the AIDS epidemic. She has also co-edited Unsung Heroines: Women's Life Histories from Tanzania and has been involved in numerous workshops on gender issues. Her visit to Albany includes a lecture and meeting with Women's Studies faculty. For further information about her schedule, please call Iris Berger, 442-4815 or the Women's Studies office, 442-4220.
