Faculty and Professional Kudos
Congratulations to the following colleagues for their recent awards and accomplishments:
- Judith Baskin (Judaic Studies) was invited to present a paper, "Images of Women in Sefer Hasidim," for a conference at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany. The conference, entitled "Mystik, Magie and Kabbala im Aschkenasischen Judentum," was this past December.
- Chris Bose (Sociology) has been selected to serve a two-year term on the Sociology panel of the National Science Foundation (NSF).
- Helen Desfosses (Public Affairs and Policy Studies) received the 1992 YWCA Tribute to Women Award.
- Jan Hagen (Social Welfare) and Irene Lurie received a grant from the Foundation for Child Development to survey welfare recipients who are participating in JOBS, the nation's most recent variation on welfare employment programs.
- June E. Hahner (History, LACS, Women's Studies) has been elected to a three-year term as a member of the General Committee of the Conference on Latin American History of the American Historical Association.
- Karyn Loscocco (Sociology) was appointed to another three-year term on the editorial board of Work and Occupations.
- Gwen Moore (Sociology) has been elected Secretary of the Eastern Sociological Society for a two-year term.
- Judith Saidel (Center for Women in Government) was appointed to the Governor's Task Force on Sexual Harrassment Prevention. She and Sharon L. Harlan (Center for Women in Government) received a grant from the Aspen Institute Nonprofit Sector Research Fund for "Nonprofit Boards of Directors in Thirds-Party Government."
