Faculty and Professional Kudos
IROW would like to congratulate the following colleagues for their accomplishments this academic year:
- Edna Acosta-Belen (Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and Women's Studies) for receiving a New York State/United University Professions Excellence Award.
- Christine E. Bose (Sociology, Women's Studies, and Latin American and Caribbean Studies) for receiving the University Award for Excellence in Academic Service. Chris is also the 1989-90 national chair of the Sex and Gender Section of the American Sociological Association and has organized sessions on public policy, feminist theory, international research, and several other topics for the August 1990 ASA meetings in Washington, D.C.
- Gloria DeSole (Affirmative Action and Women's Studies) for being named to the Chancellor's Task Force on Affirmative Action for a 1990-93 term.
- Judith Hudson (University Libraries) for receiving a New York State/United University Professions Excellence Award and the Bread and Roses Award for accomplishments on behalf of women.
- Claudia Murphy (Philosophy) for receiving a NYS/UUP Nuala McGann Drescher Affirmative Action Award providing a research leave.
- Sucheta Mazumdar (History) for receiving a NYS/UUP Nuala McGann Drescher Affirmative Action Award providing a research leave.
- Joan Schulz (English and Women's Studies) for receiving a New York State/United University Professions Excellence Award.
- Katherine Trent (Sociology) for receiving a University at Albany Faculty Research Grant to study the "Structural Determinants of Teenage Childbearing: A Crossnational Analysis."
- Women's Studies Program which became the Women's Studies Department this year.
