Visiting Writer

The Department of Latin American and Caribbean Studies, the New York State Writers Institute, and IROW are cosponsoring the visit of Puerto Rican writer Nicholasa Mohr in the Spring. Ms. Mohi will be a writer-in-residence during the first two weeks of April, 1989. She will also be teaching an intensive course on "The Hispanic Literary Experience in the United States," focusing on her own work and the work of other Hispanic women writers in the United States.

Ms. Mohr was born in New York City and has authored several award-winning novels and short story collections. She is the author of Nilda, El Bronx Remembered, In Nueva York, Felita, Going Home, and Rituals of Survival.

Ms. Mohr will receive an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from the University at Albany at this year's commencement ceremonies.
