T
he Center for Aging Research is focused on: (1) helping faculty and students to develop funded research in applied gerontology, (2) developing and recruiting faculty interested in gerontological research, and (3) developing partnerships with New York State and community agencies to conduct applied gerontological research. The Institute and Center conduct a variety of applied research projects sponsored by federal, state, and foundation sources.
The Center on Excellence in Aging Services fosters the integration of research, service and education through policy and practice exemplars. It currently includes the Hartford Internships in Aging Program, a program funded by the John A. Hartford Foundation to improve the education of masters-level social work students. It also houses the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), which recruits and places over 1000 seniors in volunteer capacities in community agencies throughout the Capital District.
