2009 Student Leadership
Awards
10 Tips For A Strong Application/Nomination
1. Read directions carefully
and complete all fields!
2. If you will be studying abroad
next semester (Spring 2009), please make reference to this on
your application.
3.
If you are applying/nominating for more than one award, be sure
to provide an explanation of your qualifications for EACH award.
4. Make sure your application
and supporting materials arrive to the Office of Student Involvement
& Leadership by Friday, December 19, 2008.
5. In evaluating your application/nomination,
review committee members will only take into account the nominee's/applicant's
accomplishments/recognitions earned during the Spring 2008-Fall
2008 timeframe. Please be sure to include only these details.
(Outstanding Senior Award applicants only: committee members
will review your entire background at UAlbany.)
6. Be sure to include phonetic
spelling of your name on your application. For example, the name
Nick Chiuchiolo, spelled as it is pronounced, would be "Nick
Choo-chuh-low."
7. Reference letters can be addressed
to Student Leadership Awards Selection Committee and
mailed/delivered to the Office of Student Involvement & Leadership.
8. Make sure that the e-mail address
you provide is an account that you check regularly. You may be
contacted via that address.
9. Information you include in
your materials should be truthful and accurate.
10. Sell it! Be proud of your
accomplishments and don't be afraid to pat yourself on the back.
Those on the selection committee who review materials will only
be able to evaluate you based on what you've included, so don't
leave anything out!
