What is the Emerging Student Leaders Program?
Do you want to become a LEADER and have fun while
doing so? Then the Emerging Student Leaders Program is for you!
The Emerging Student Leaders Program is an elite, fun and interactive
program designed to enhance you as a leader and student here at
The University at Albany. The Emerging Student Leaders Program
helps students
develop a strong sense of self, build confidence in their Leadership
ability, and establish long lasting friendships so they may become
active and engaged citizens of The University at Albany and the
global community.
What to Expect from the Program:
As an Emerging Student Leader you will meet, network,
and make connections with other students, faculty and staff. The
Emerging Student Leaders Program will give the selected students:
skills, experience and knowledge to becoming a leader in and outside
of the University community. Additionally, the program develops
your personal leadership skills by working with other Emerging
Student Leaders towards positive social change. Step up to the
challenge to not only establish yourself as a student but as an
elite Emerging Student Leader.

The Emerging Student Leaders Program is a selective
program for students. Emerging Student Leaders meet five times
a semester and will participate in a variety of experiential learning
activities and discussions to further personal development and
leadership ability.
Requirements:
In order to attend the Retreat at the end of the
year, students must not miss more than one session. Also, because
academic integrity and performance is critical for being a good
student leader, we require a minimum GPA of 2.5. They must also
attend at least one Leadership luncheon series.
Students must attend 4 of the 5 meetings a semester
to receive the Emerging Student Leaders Certificate.
