2006-2007 Student Association Positions

Student Association, also known as “SA,” is the student government of the undergraduate students at the University at Albany. The SA is similar to that of the federal government, with an Executive Branch, Legislative Branch, and a Judicial Branch. The main goal of Student Association is to serve the student body and make the UAlbany experience as enjoyable as possible.

Available positions include:

Executive Branch:

Comptroller - The Comptroller is the Custodian of the $1.9 million student activity fee. This position has many responsibilities that will consume about twenty-five hours a week during the school year and about ten per week during the summer months. A general finance background is recommended.

Legislative Branch:

Senate Secretary - Shall work with the Senate Chair on Legislative matters and take minutes during weekly senate meetings.

Directors:

Programming Director - The Programming Director works with the programming committee to coordinate all Student Association Programming. The Programming Director must stay at the University over the summer.

Marketing Director - The Marketing Director is the chief communications officer of Student Association. This director is charged with informing the student body of upcoming events and getting students involved in various activities on campus.

Multicultural Affairs Director - The Multicultural Affairs Director shall oversee and coordinate diverse and cultural activities on campus. This director shall also serve as an advocate for cultural groups.

Athletics Director - The Athletics Director shall coordinate and oversee the Intramural program on campus.

Advisors & Assistants:

Assistant Programming Director - Shall assist the Programming Director in coordinating Student Association Programming.

University Programming Specialist - Shall coordinate Danes After Dark programming.

Marketing Assistant - Shall assist the Marketing Director with promoting Student Association activities and update the SA website weekly.

Public Relations Specialist - Shall assist the Marketing Director and create a monthly publication, The Student Voice. This person shall have experience in writing press releases and other publications.

ATV Director - The Albany Television Director shall assist the Marketing Director and run SA’s television station.

Interfaith Advisor - Shall work with the Multicultural Affairs Director on interfaith issues on campus. This advisor shall work closely with the recognized interfaith organizations.

Elections Commissioner - The Elections Commissioner shall coordinate all Student Association elections.

Gender and Sexuality Concerns Advisor - This Advisor shall work with the Programming Director in coordinating events related to gender and sexuality.

Other available positions include Copies Plus Manager and Administrative Assistants.
