SHAPE’s Annual "Mixin' Up the Sex Week: Contemporary Issues in Sexuality”

on Sexual Messages in Hip Hop
7pm, Campus Center 375, “Project SHAPE: The Portrayal of Sexuality in
Hip Hop Music”
Hip Hop is one of the most influential genres of music. Provocative lyrics and erotic portrayals of Black women in music videos has caused great controversy. A panel of persons from various cultural groups, a music producer and sexual health peer educators from Project SHAPE will discuss the ways in which this form of rap defines gender relations and perceptions of sexuality.

Rights
7 pm, Campus Center 375, “Project SHAPE’s 7th Annual Faith & Choice Forum”
Panel members representing the Jewish, Muslim, Protestant and Catholic faiths will discuss their perspectives on reproductive rights and choice. Panel members include Rabbi Dennis Ross, Eileen Moran of Catholics for Choice, Reverend Tomi Jacobs of United Church of Christ, and May Saffar, Muslim Solidarity community and Union College professor.

Civil Unions and Legal Rights
7 pm, Performing Arts Center Recital Hall, Project SHAPE’s “Tying the
Knot” film and discussion with filmmaker and panel
Join us in watching the award winning film “Tying the Knot” which discusses the meaning of civil marriage in America, followed by a discussion with the filmmaker, Jim de Seve and a married gay couple with an interesting personal story.
Free raffle for $25 gift certificates for Mary Jane books.
