Reading Project Seminars & Discussion Groups

This week we are offering an especially rich program of speakers and discussion groups for this year's reading project based on Elizabeth Kolbert's Field Notes from a Catastrophe. Please check this page regularly for updates and additions, and help us to spread the word among colleagues and students. We hope to see you at the following events:

  • "Global Warming: Changes in Regional Climate over East China and the Northeast U.S." presented by Dr. Wei-Chyung Wang, Professor of Applied Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences Research Center. This is one of a short series of presentations for the general public followed by Q&A, featuring climate related research conducted by UAlbany faculty members. Monday, March 26th @ 4:00 p.m., Standish Room (Science Library).
  • "Wind Energy: Current and Future Prospects" presented by Bruce H. Bailey, President, AWS Truewind, LLC. Wednesday, March 28th @ 4:00 p.m., Standish Room (Science Library).
  • A Day with Ms. Elizabeth Kolbert, award-winning journalist and author of Field Notes from a Catastrophe, including two public events on Thursday, March 29th offered in the Campus Center Ballroom - seminar/Q & A @ 2:00 p.m. and Remarks/Q & A @ 7:00 p.m.
