Campus Conversation on Academic Integrity and Plagiarism

Please join our panel drawn from members of the University community to share ideas concerning the important topics of academic integrity and plagiarism:

Would an "Honor Code" Make a Difference? will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Campus Center Ballroom.

This Forum creates an opportunity for the entire campus community to engage in a conversation initially begun in the Provost's Task Force on Academic Integrity. The members of that Task Force recommended further discussion of the possibility of some kind of honor code tailored with our own campus needs in mind. University Senate, GSO, and SA now invite faculty and students to share with each other perspectives on the related topics of academic integrity and the possibility of an honor code.

While some of the activities typically associated with honor codes appear to focus on student activities, the panelists agree that faculty and the administration would also become essential partners in the creation, promotion, and response to an honor code. The panel will address both student and faculty responsibility to encourage a culture that supports academic integrity as well as the ways in which students become role models for peers and faculty become role models for their students.

Please join us with a panel drawn from across the University community to share ideas concerning these important topics and potential next steps. For further background information concerning honor codes, please click here.
