UALBANY PEP BAND STILL RECRUITING NEW MEMBERS

It’s not too late to sign up for UAlbany’s new Pep Band, says band director Kevin Champagne. “We’re still looking for students to join who want to boost school spirit and have fun. Would-be members should have at least high school instrumental proficiency.”

Donning their new purple and gold monogrammed rugby shirts and belting out their repertoire of up-tempo songs such as Mony Mony, Hot, Hot, Hot, Mambo #5 and the theme from Hawaii Five-O, UAlbany’s hotter-than-hot Pep Band made its debut at the women’s and men’s basketball games at the Big Purple Growl on February 7th.

The group is a mix of both students and staff. Some students are music majors, others are talented freshmen just out of their high school bands. Still others aren’t music majors, but have extensive backgrounds in music. Whatever their background, members are having a great time boosting the spirit level at Great Danes events.

Interested students should contact Kevin Champagne at 442-4293 or email sunyband@hotmail.com.
