| Christina Smith is a second year Africana Studies graduate student. She intends to graduate in May and enter the work force for a few years before entering an African American Studies Ph D. program. She is originally from Latta, SC and in 2007, earned her B.A. in Public Relations from the University of South Carolina. Go Gamecocks! In 2005 she became a member of the Zeta Theta chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. During her time at Carolina, she was marketing chair for SAVVY, a multicultural women’s support group, Cultural Awareness Chair for the Association of African American Students (AAAS), President of Zeta Theta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Vice President of the National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC), and was the 2nd Vice President for Sorority Council. In 2005 she was named Exemplary Female student by the University of South Carolina chapter of the NAACP and was inducted into the University of South Carolina’s Hall of Leaders in 2007. She was also a participant in the Ronald E. McNair Post-Bacca-laureate Achievement Program.
Through her current position as Graduate Assistant for Greek Affairs, Christina hopes to help students here at UAlbany have some of the best times of their lives by enriching their experiences within their Greek Lettered Organizations.
