LinguaLinx Scholarship **NOT CURRENTLY FUNDED **
Need help paying for your Study Abroad experience?
LinguaLinx Language Solutions, Inc. has very generously donated scholarship money to the University at Albany’s Office of International Education, division of Study Abroad & Exchanges. LinguaLinx is a full-service translation agency providing multilingual solutions to today’s leading corporations, law firms, non-profit organizations and government agencies.
The purpose of the scholarships is to make study abroad possible for students who show an interest in continuing the study of languages and otherwise excel academically, but are financially-disadvantaged or would not qualify for the additional financial aid required to fund the program fees for a semester abroad.
The LinguaLinx scholarship money will be divided into one (1) scholarship of $500 for Summer 2009 programs and one (1) scholarship of $1,000 for Fall 2009 semester programs. To be eligible for this scholarship, the following requirements apply:
- You must be a University at Albany undergraduate student studying abroad on an Albany program for the Summer 2009, Fall 2009 semester or 2009-10 Academic Year.
- You must be studying abroad in a country where the usual spoken language is not English, pursuing language studies in a language other than English.
- You must request to live with a host family.
Only UAlbany students participating on Albany study abroad programs are eligible to apply.
In order to be considered for this scholarship, you must submit a 200 word essay describing why you feel you are a deserving candidate and how you plan to use your language skills in promoting international education after your return from study abroad. Selection will be based on academic merit (transcripts), an indication of financial need (provide a copy of your financial aid award letter), and the essay described above.
