Welcome to the University at Albany (UAlbany), State University of New York, located in the historic city of Albany, the capital of New York State, offering varied and impressive architecture, beautiful parks, diverse cultural activities, and a multiethnic cosmopolitan population.

UAlbany is proud to be a host site for the Fulbright Gateway Orientation program, which is intended to prepare you for your new life as an international graduate student in the United States and provide you with a headstart on American culture, including its academic, financial, and legal systems.

Science Library illuminated at nightUAlbany's Office of International Education has prepared an interesting and rigorous orientation schedule, including sessions on academic life in the United States, survival skills for graduate study, U.S. history and social values, and how to maintain your psychological and physical health.

You will spend your daytime hours participating in valuable orientation sessions, touring UAlbany’s unique uptown campus, designed by renowned architect Edward Durell Stone as a unified yet bold monument to education, and exploring Albany’s historic venues, such as the New York State Capitol and New York State Museum.
