Conditional ESL Undergraduate Admissions

The University offers a conditional undergraduate admission option for students who do not meet the minimum English language requirement.

Students must complete an Undergraduate Application and an Intensive English Language Program (IELP) application. The $50 undergraduate application fee will be paid online to SUNY ASC or Common Application at the time of submission. A fee of $130 for the IELP application can be paid online when filling out the IELP application or a check payable to the University at Albany may be mailed to IELP. All acceptance packages will be sent from the IELP office via express mail service.

If students meet the admission standards and are offered a conditional admission by the Undergraduate Admissions Office, they will be admitted to the IELP course of study and issued an I-20. Upon successful completion of IELP, achieving a 70 internet based TOEFL score or a 6.0 IELTS score, and having the recommendation of the Director of IELP, students will be able to matriculate as full-time undergraduate freshmen.
