In June of 2003, University departments were notified that the campus based records storage center was to close due to budget reductions. It has indeed closed and we must now make arrangements to relocate its holdings.
I am pleased to announce that through a competitive procurement process, the University has entered into a contractual relationship with a firm, Iron Mountain Records and Storage, Inc., to provide record storage, retrieval and destruction services. Much effort went into securing this contract and it affords the user storage protection and safeguards at very competitive rates.
Institutional Services has been asked to be the administrators of this contract and has agreed to be responsible for its timely implementation. To that end, informational meetings for all departmental managers that currently have records in storage at the record center or those departmental managers that may wish to take advantage of off-site storage services are invited to attend one of the following implementation meetings:
Monday April 12, 2004: 11:00am to 12:30pm in the Terrace Lounge
Wednesday April 13, 2004: 1:30pm to 3:00pm in CC361
Please note, all records that are in the current records storage facility must be moved out by April 30, 2004. You may wish to have these records returned to your department, destroyed on campus or secured at the Iron Mountain facility. In any event, your presence at one of the above scheduled meetings is requested where a review of the contract, its services and costs and an implementation schedule will be discussed.
