Hermas Rodriguez-Perez
M.A. student in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Travel to
El Salvador to study the reintegration to civilian life of women
"guerrillas" in El Salvador after a ten-year civil war.
Marlene Sarjeant
Ph.D. student in Ecology. Financial support to hire a student research
assistant for her project on the status of the Karner butterfly,
and developing population models for its management.
Mary Sullivan
M.A./C.A.S. student in Public History. Funding to replace failed
computer equipment after VESID computer hard drive crashed.

conduct research on working adults who will be surveyed to determine
whether the degree of match between their interests and their occupational
type, together with the degree of match between their central issues
and the issues brought up by their jobs predicts their levels of
job satisfaction overall.

and scholarship on women and gender. Financial support to publish

data analysis software to conduct research for dissertation on understanding
the process through which victims of traumatic life events subsequently
become activists in social movements addressing the type of trauma
they experienced.

expenses throughout New York State to interview county civil service
workers to understand the impact of welfare reform in New York,
especially on women clients.
Sreeroopa Sarkar ($1,000)
Ph.D. student in Educational Psychology and Statistics. Travel to
Calcutta, India, to conduct preliminary and exploratory work to
identify the social stressors that make young females in that country
vulnerable to mental health problems and the coping mechanism for
responding to those stressors.
