Jennifer Openshaw

Jennifer Openshaw is a nationally recognized financial expert, television commentator and specialist in the women’s financial arena. She is author of the acclaimed book, What’s Your Net Worth? Click Your Way to Wealth, and host of the public television show bearing the same name. Openshaw was recently featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show discussing money matters for women and couples.

Openshaw is currently CEO of Family Financial Network (www.familyfn.com), which provides affordable and conflict-free financial planning tools and advice to middle-income Americans. She was recently appointed by the California Governor to the prestigious Commission on Government Efficiency and Organization. In 1999, Openshaw founded the Women’s Financial Network (WFN) dedicated to serving women’s financial needs.

Called “one of the most outspoken proponents for empowering women” by CBS MarketWatch, Openshaw is an industry trendsetter. She has been called a “Mover & Shaker” in Silicon Valley by the San Jose Mercury News and one of the Internet’s 25 Rising Stars by Internet World magazine.

Openshaw has served as the “Money Expert” for CBS-TV in Los Angeles, the “Women & Money” columnist for CBS MarketWatch, and a frequent commentator on Lifetime TV’s Lifetime Live. Today, she is the consumer columnist for CBS MarketWatch and appears frequently as a financial commentator on CNN. She has been featured on CNBC and in top publications including Business Week and the Washington Times.

Openshaw got her start in financial services working as press secretary for California’s State Treasurer. She has also served as vice president at Bank of America and senior vice president at Bank One. A rotary scholar in Australia, Openshaw holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and an MBA from UCLA.

Tech Valley has sparked the anticipation of new opportunities offered to businesses and consumers in the Capital Region, particularly in light of the anxieties fueled by economic instability. Survival is key, and there are ways to be successful in spite of financial and economic challenges.
