2003 Initiatives For Women Events
10th Annual Initiatives For Women Awards Dinner

On Wednesday, October 15, 2003, Initiatives For Women celebrated 10 years of carrying out its mission, "Support Her Dream," by hosting its 10th Annual Fall Dinner at the Desmond Hotel in Albany, New York.

This year's dinner included a conversation between University at Albany President, Karen Hitchcock and Jennifer Openshaw, founder of the Women's Financial Network (WFN) and author of the acclaimed book What's Your Net Worth? 10th Annual IFW Summer Celebration

On July 9, 2003 at 2:30 pm, Initiatives for Women honored the 2003 IFW award recipients at the 10th Annual Summer Celebration. The festivities will took place in the Assembly Hall at the University at Albany with a reception that immediately follow in the Fireside Lounge. 2003 Freihofer's Community Walk

On Saturday, May 31, 2003 the 15th Annual Freihofer's Community Walk was held in conjunction with the Freihofer's Run for Women at the Empire State Plaza, celebrating camaraderie and fitness. This event serves to increase public awareness of the health benefits of walking and the desire to support area non-profit organizations. Initiatives for Women walkers and volunteers helped to raise over $1,900.

2003 Bread & Roses Award Recipients

Winter Forum: Women and Technology

To kick off the IFW tenth anniversary year 2003, the Inititiatives for Women hosted the 2003 Winter Forum, on Thursday, March 27, 2003 at the University at Albany Performing Arts Center (PAC).

This year's winter forum theme was, "Women and Technology," and included a multimedia presenation by Lori Anderson, a University at Albany alumna, and was followed by a panel discussion about the issues women are currently facing while working with new technologies.
