9th Annual Initiatives For Women Awards Dinner
On October 16, 2002, the Ninth Annual Initiatives
For Women Awards Dinner was held at the Desmond Hotel in Albany.
The evening's highlights included a conversation between University
at Albany President, Karen Hitchcock and President and Chief Operating
Officer of Southwest Airlines, Colleen Barrett.
9th Annual Summer Celebration
President Karen R. Hitchcock presented awards to
the 2002 IFW recipients at a celebration ceremony on July 11 in

Shirley J. Jones Event June 14th
On June 14th, 2002 a reception was held at President
Hitchcock's home to
honor Dr. Shirley J. Jones, Professor Emeritus, School of Social
Welfare.
In honor of Dr. Jones two scholarships funds are being created.

IFW Winter Forum
The IFW Winter Forum has become well-known within
its seventh year's tradition. The IFW members and friends were invited
to Women in the Arts: The Creative Process at The Tang Teaching
Museum and Art Gallery on February 25, 2002. In our photo gallery
you will find a colorful cross section of the evening.

Thanks to the generous support of the Avon Products
Foundation ten nontraditional women students of superior academic
potential and great financial need have received Avon-IFW Life Impact
Scholarships. These women had the chance to visit Avon.
