CHARGE Bios Joyce
– Residence Hall Director and CHARGE DIRECTOR
“The only limitations in life are the ones you place on yourself”.
This quote strikes at the heart of Ms. Joyce Allison's philosophy
for the 2007-2008 programming CHARGE academic year.
No stranger to programming that calls for students, faculty
and staff alike to push their boundaries while expanding their
experiences, Ms. Allison is eager to continue in her efforts
to offer quality programs in her role as the newly appointed
CHARGE Director.
This year CHARGE boasts an exciting line up of programs, one
of which is the Underground Railroad History Project Walking
Tour, where participants will be able to engage themselves
with Albany's roots in local Under Ground Railroad activism,
“walking where freedom seekers walked and visiting locations
where abolitionist activists lived, worked, or conducted activities.”
In addition, for anyone who ever wanted to learn how to make
beaded jewelry or discuss current issues join us for our exciting
new series: Conversations and Coffee with a CA. Here participants
(who will be selected in advance) will be able to engage a
CA in an exclusive one-on-one or group discussion or take
part in one of our exciting in office activities. These programs
will be facilitated by our committed CHARGE Assistants.
Throughout the course of this academic year, please remember
that our Charge Assistants are excited and more than willing
to meet your programming needs. The CA’s along with the quads
they serve for the 2007-2008 academic year are as follows:

Paula – CA for INDIAN Quad
Hi, My
name is Paula Brown and I am the CHARGE Assistant for Indian
Quad. I am a sophomore here at the University, majoring in
Latin American Caribbean Studies with a minor in Spanish.
I hope to study aboard for my junior year, I have yet to decide
where I would like to go. I am originally from Miami Florida,
but now reside in a small town that is 45 minutes northeast
of Albany, called Hoosick Falls. I am really outgoing at times,
but can also be very quiet when I want to be. Two fun facts
about me would be, I can play the flute and wiggle my ears.
I recently just joined the club; Women's Rugby team, which
is really exciting. I am also involved in Angelic Voices of
Praise (AVP), which is a gospel organization here on campus.
I
enjoy reading, baking, watching movies, and being with my
friends. My main goal for CHARGE is to educate myself and
others through the programs that CHARGE puts on for the students
on campus. ENJOY!!!
