Welcome
The Honors College is a community of developing scholars that includes some of the best teaching professors and some of the brightest and most serious students at UAlbany. The students are earlier in their development as scholars, and the faculty are further along, but all are refining and enhancing their abilities to create knowledge.
Are you a student applying to UAlbany, one of our current first-year students, or a UAlbany professor interested in a challenging and intense classroom experience, a collaborative research experience, and a residence experience focused on fun and hard work? Come join us!

Purple & Gold Ambassadors
Honors students are encouraged to join the Purple & Gold Ambassadors. UAlbany’s Purple & Gold Student Ambassadors is a small group of students who represent UAlbany at high-profile functions. Purple & Gold members serve as ambassadors for UAlbany and represent the University to alumni, University guests, the campus and the community. Read more about Purple & Gold Ambassadors.
Irving Harold Losee Scholarship Fund
The Irving Harold Losee Scholarship Fund was established through a donation by the estate of Mr. Losee, who was a 1938 graduate of the University at Albany. The fund provides financial support to enhance the educational experience of students in The Honors College by providing full or partial funding for educational opportunities that are not part of their regular coursework at the University at Albany. For example, the funds could be used toward funding a semester abroad, travel to an internship, a service-learning opportunity, or travel to a conference.
Four students were awarded a Losee Scholarship during the 2007/08 academic year, George Bezama and Marina Natichioni to attend the Eighth Annual National Bioethics Conference; Elizabeth Gray to participate in a three-week intensive language program in Santiago, Chile; and Katie Reed to attend a week-long conference: Poverty and Prosperity in Atlanta, Georgia.
