History Honors Program
Each spring the History Department admits qualified students into the honors program in history. The honors program provides students with intensive training in historical research while working closely with departmental faculty in a year-long seminar. Click here for more information on the honors program.

William T. Reedy Prize
This prize is awarded annually by the history department to an undergraduate student for the best paper submitted in any history course taken at the University during the preceding calendar year. Students are encouraged to submit their own papers for consideration. The 2006 prize competition will take place in the spring 2006 semester -- watch this space for more details in January.

Ethel Ray and Ada Crippen Prize
The Crippen prize is awarded each year to the outstanding graduating senior in U.S. history. The recipient of the prize will be recognized at the department's commencement ceremony in May.

Other University Honors
The university offers several other opportunities for students to achieve honors, including Phi Beta Kappa, degrees with Latin honors, and the Presidential Awards for Undergraduate Research. You can learn more about these honors programs in the "Honors, Awards, and Prizes" section of the Undergraduate Bulletin.
