Abraham
E. Wendell
Abraham E. Wendell was born in April 1693. He was the son of Albany leader Evert Wendell, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Sanders - whose marriage represented the union of two of Albany most promising families.
In
October 1736, he was forty-three-years-old when he
wed Geertruy Bleecker at the Albany Dutch church.
This marrriage of older partners produced only one
child who grew up to become the wife of a prominent
Albany merchant.
During
the 1720s-40s, this Abraham was a merchant and resident
of the third ward.
Abraham
E. Wendell lost his wife shortly after the birth
of their daughter. He may have re-married. He died
in June 1753 and was buried from the Albany church.

Sources: The life of Abraham E. Wendell is CAP biography number
2737. This sketch is derived chiefly from family
and community-based resources. However, this presentation
is cautious to avoid confusion with the life of his
nephew Abraham E. Wendell and other contemporary
Abraham Wendells as well!
