Thomas
Harmanse Hun
Thomas Harmanse was born in 1668. He was the son of Harmen Thomase and Catharina Bercks Hun.
He
married Mayke Jans Oothout in 1692. By 1709, nine
of their children were baptized in the Albany Dutch
church where he was a prominent member and frequent
baptism sponsor.
These
Huns lived in Albany's third ward where Thomas Harmanse
served as firemaster, assessor, surveyor, juror,
and assistant alderman in 1709. He was a prominent
and successful Albany trader who also owned land
beyond the city. In 1715, he was listed on the roster
of an Albany militia company.
Thomas
Harmanse Hun died in November 1716 at the age of
forty-eight. His widow lived for many years after!
