Susanna
Bradt Hallenbeck
Susanna Bradt was born in 1697. She was the daughter of Albany residents Daniel and Elizabeth Lansing Bradt.
She
married Hendrick Hallenbeck in 1718. Their thirteen
children were born between 1719 and the mid-1740s
and baptized in the Albany Dutch church where Susanna
was a member and a sponsor for a number of family
baptisms.
Hendrick
Hallenbeck died in 1766 after naming her his beloved
wife and chief beneficiary. They had lived in a house
on the southside of Albany - overlooking a large
pasture just beyond the stockade. The widow (now
family martiarch and trustee of extensive city acreage)
continued to live there until her death in November
1787. She was buried from the Albany Dutch church
but probably in the Hallenbeck burying ground located
next to her first ward home.
