About the Producers
This web project was created by three social studies education students from the University at Albany. New York history and African-American history have always interested us and we created this project in an attempt to tie the two together. We try and use primary sources as tools in our classrooms as much as possible. We want our students to think like historians and come to conclusions based on their own interpretations of history. Hopefully the content on this site will engage students and teachers in conversations about the role African-Americans played in New York's history.
David Brown, Nathan Farrell, and Jonathan Glisson are 2007 graduates of the University at Albany's secondary education master's program.
