As New York State Historian, my duties are twofold; to help provide support and coordination to the historical field, including local historians, academic historians, and historical societies and museums; as well as to conduct research on various topics relevant to New York State history and the New York State Museum.

As State Historian I work on a broad range of New York State historical topics, including public policy, social, labor, military, and cultural history. Currently, I am working on a history of the 1960s-era commune located in Millbrook, Dutchess County as well as a collaborative project on World War I veteran Tommy Hitchcock Jr. and the Ideal of Theodore Roosevelt’s Nobless Oblige.
