Tina Peabody is a doctoral candidate specializing in twentieth century United States history. Her main research interest is the urban environment in the United States, and the social and economic history of the United States more generally. She is currently working on a dissertation entitled Wretched Refuse: Garbage and the Making of New York City, which is a social and economic history of garbage collection and disposal in New York City between the 1870s and 1990s. Ms. Peabody has been the recipient of a number of awards and fellowships, including the Sherry Penny Prize for outstanding female graduate students, the Joseph E. Persico Dissertation award, and the Initiatives for Women Award.
